The quarterback sack is always a Code 1

This is a photo of the Texans Travis Johnson obliterating Miami's Trent Green. A quarterback sack, by definition, is a jam up. A sack is the defense jamming up the offense (both the O-line and the QB). That said, it's part of the game, happens very frequently, and the defensive player always draws attention to himself after getting the sack.

Now, this pic has some thinking Code 2. Green, after all, was down with a concussion for several minutes as Johnson lumbered over him with dominance. However, the fact that Green is 180 pounds and Johnson is 300, hurting him doesn't add anything to the jam up.

Long story short. A QB sack is a jam up, but can never be rated as anything higher than a Code 1.
